• Notepad++ Notepad on steriods, simple and efficient for developing
• XAMPP Easy to install PHP,mySQL,… to get you up and running for local development
• IrfanView Simple and powerful image editing tool. Batch processing
• Inkscape Vector graphic creation programme

Online – software

• Feed Icons RSS icons in many colours
• ConvertIcon – Can’t find the url, but converts between pngs and icos with an interface that looks like an Apple app

Productivity

• Any.do Simple to do list android (and iPhone and web) app which sinks with Google tasks (it makes Google tasks useful)
• Buffer Spread out tweets throughout the day. Get the browser extension and it’s really easy to tweet about the page you’re reading
• Google Spreadsheets Maintain data, detailed action lists, effective data sharing
